The Wind at her Back was inspired by the story of a woman I know who left everything she knew in Ireland to travel to Canada and start a new life for herself and her son. I can’t begin to imagine what that first day of travel would have felt like for her as she boarded the ship with nothing but a few bags and her child. That first morning was windy and the water was rough, but she felt a new sense of peace in her heart, knowing she was forging a new and better path for her son and herself.
